Tribal Glam

by Sherria

When I was a little girl, I used to marvel at the brightly colored beaded jewelry worn by Kenyan women. I wanted to travel to Kenya just to pick up some authentic beaded jewelry. Sad to say, I never made it there (p.s. life’s not over yet..there’s still hope). Fortunately, designers are starting to notice the beauty in African jewelry and textiles. Even celebrities such as Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, and Solange are starting to incorporate African and tribal prints into their everyday wardrobe.

I love seeing tribal patterns designed into modern patterns. Although these patterns are not new to African and ethnic communities, it’s becoming more mainstream and I hope it just isn’t a phase. I love fun prints and patterns. They make life and style more fun! You can find tribal prints this season at retail chains such as  Forever21, Old Navy, and Aldo.

A*cute picks:

McCampbell Necklace (Aldo, $25)

Mulvahill clutch (Aldo, $50)

Tribal Open Cardigan (Forever21, $19.80)
