Off-Duty Looks: Purple Eye Shadow

The “freakin’ weekend” is here and although it’s gray outside on the East Coast, I’m planning to add a splash of color to my face with purple eye shadow. After seeing a photo of Olivia from VH1′s Love & Hip Hop on Theybf.com last night, I figured I should stop waiting around to use the purple eye shadow kit I bought by Maybelline. Below are a few eye shadows from brands that I trust as well as a couple of makeup tutorials for applying purple eye shadow. I hope you enjoy. Happy Friday!

Color blocking is a hot trend this season. Tyra Banks looked great in a color blocked jumpsuit at the VH1 “Do Something” Awards. If you can’t find an outfit with multiple colors, opt for a bright jumpsuit. Don’t settle on neutral colors. Make a statement with your clothes and wear colored jewelry to add an extra flair. Look for Less: Leather Ruffle Outerwear

Is this jacket appropriate for work? :

Yes. The jacket can serve as a replacement to your blazer. I would wear it with a pair of slacks or a knee-length skirt. I would advise against wearing gaudy jewelry with this jacket. The ruffle neckline will draw attention on its own. You don’t want to cause too much of a distraction with big jewelry. Stud earrings and a simple chain would look great. Another thought: This jacket can also be used to “dress-up” your “dress-down” day outfit. Some employers allow staff to dress casual one day out of the week (usually Friday). So, use your casual Friday to make a style statement.
